My project over the winter is to build a sleeping platform for the van. I'm going to follow the usual design of a plywood frame for seating in the back, with fold-out sections over the rear seats etc for the sleeping platform. Most designs use piano hinges for these, but I'm thinking it would be good to make the fold-out sections detachable - that way it will be a lot easier to remove the unit from the van.
My question is: what kind of fitting could I use instead of piano hinges? My current idea is to use loose-pin hinges, and maybe replace the pins with R-clips (https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/c...R-Clip.jpg) - that way I still get sturdy connection, but can quickly assemble & disassemble. (I've heard rumours this is common practice in theatre set design?)
