2008 1.6HDi Headlight Bulb Replacement

Hi all, is there an easy way to replace the headlight bulbs? - I assumed it would just be unscrewing the covers and popping the new ones in, but there's no space for my "normal" sized hands.

Do I need to remove or at least undo and pull the headlight unit forward?

If so, is it just the two screws that I can see (they look like T30s) ??

Or do I need to remove a load of other stuff at the front first?

You normally have to remove the bumper to get the headlight out, but you could try the method in the video below.

On the left (passenger) side, it helps if you remove the cover from the fuse box. Driver's side should have enough room? Watch out for the clips that hold the bulbs in, they have been known to come loose and drop down if pulled too hard.

I recently took mine to Wilco tyres. The guy did it from under the bonnet, behind the headlight. Apparently it's a tight squeeze, but after much muttering he managed to get it done. Only took a few minutes.

OK, thanks all, I've already seen that video, I think the offside is going to be OK - I'm more interested in the nearside which is much more of a squeeze. I'll take the fuse box cover off as suggested (and rings and watch) and see how it goes. I only really need to replace the nearside, but when one goes I usually replace both. I also have a Hyundai Coupe and you have to take the whole light unit out just to replace the bulbs, not exactly the easiest of roadside fixes - I was hoping this was going to be easier ... If only my wife had smaller hands ha ha ha.

Excellent piece of advice, thanks - had a quick look today, whipped the fuse box cover off, replaced the bulb fairly easily - still a bit fiddly, but I managed., Only took a few minutes to be honest- it took me longer to get the round cover back on than it did to replace the bulb.

Now you come to mention it, that's exactly what happened to me once! I think I ended up shaving one of the tabs off the cover to get it past a pipe or wire.

I own a Berlingo First 1.6 HDi 09 plate.
I have just successfully replaced the passenger side N/S headlight bulb.
I removed the fuse box cover to provide a little bit of space.
Disconnected the wiring loom from the rear of the light cluster to provide additional space.
Removed the main grill to the immediate left of the N/S light cluster (there are 4 x T20 Torx bolts to unscrew) - be very careful removing, there are some fragile pieces of plastic to manoeuvre out of their holding places.
Once the grill is removed, you now have access to 1 of 3 securing bolts for the light cluster (previously the grill hid this bolt), I removed 2 of the bolts, 1 at the side and the other at the top of the light cluster. The 3rd bolt I left in place, it is accessible underneath the wheel arch (but you don't need to go there).
I was then able to gently manoeuvre the light cluster slightly forward and to the side, which provided just enough extra room to get in to the rear of the light cluster to remove the cover and replace the bulb etc. Don't force the light cluster too much, be gentle and careful not to brake anything i.e. it won't budge a lot.
It was a bit fiddly and time consuming to get into the bulb, but if you take your time it should be easy enough.
