Hello all,
New to the forum though I have owned a berlingo for a year. I bought the first berlingo van after my low miles no rust Escort van was written off by a texting driver. The first Berlingo is an '04 2.0hdi that had been sitting for a couple of years. I grew to enjoy the van, it ran very well pulled well and was pretty nippy. Sadly it won't pass its MOT without a ton of money spent on it and a lot of welding which I am not prepared to do. I picked up another '04 van to replace it with today assuming that they were the same and that I could use the old one for parts if needed. The new van is running like poop, no power a lot of the timeand feels like it is missing all the time, really pretty uncomfortable to drive, bordering on undrivable. I have done a little research and it looks like they used two different engine control systems, (what the heck s that all about!). Anyway I need to figure out what's what, is there an easy way to tell what control system I have on the vans and is there a fix for this issue. I really cannot believe the difference between the two vans they are like chalk and cheese. I don't want to drive this "new" van the way it is its absolutely terrible and could be dangerous given the lack of power to accelerate. Very much hoping I have not bought a pile of poop!
Any pointers would be much appreciated
Andrew
