Rear double seat bent frame, floor hook won't engage
#1
The rear double seat is a bit wonky: https://imgur.com/a/TdMmSDm

When folding it back up, the receiver for the metal "loop" at shoulder height is too low. To get it to engage, you have to lift the seat up and onto the loop.
Looking at the bottom of the seat from the boot, the floor hook isn't anywhere near engaging. It looks like the bottom of the seat's frame has been bent out of shape - it goes up in the middle, and you can see the screws have been dislodged.

My guess is that previous owner tried to force it down onto something that was in the way when folding the seat up and hence damaged the frame.

Just wondering if anyone has any experience with disassembling and/or repairing these seats? Gonna take a look at the service manual later, but thought I'd better check in here first!

Cheers  Smile

The 'loops' can be adjusted using a Torx bit. You should be able to see a small access panel in the plastic by the loop, in your picture, middle right.

Aye, I noticed that - would make life easier in the interim, but would still need to solve the bottom frame + floor hook engaging

The seat frame looks to be made from tube so some adjustment of the loop and a bit of persuasion? The seats come out easily enough if needed, but I wonder if a block on each foot of the seat and kneeling in the middle would do the trick.

A piece of 4x2 and a big hammer would be my first thought. Put an old cushion under it and beat it severely for causing you aggro Big Grin Put a couple of pieces under each end to give some support while you do it and have someone checking how far it has moved while you are thrashing it
So where does this bit go then ?

This is an old thread now, but just for completeness/those who come after me:

The solution was indeed to give it a good thrashing! I removed + partially disassembled the 2/3 seat so I could see what I was doing. The frame was indeed bent, fortunately not broken as I cannot weld! I tried some walloping with a hammer + block of wood, but in the end the real solution was to use my own body weight to bend it back straight. It survived the process but took a lot of force! Only thing to watch out for is damaging the floor hooks - I used blocks of wood to protect these from the floor.

The loop that engages with the seat back needed a little adjustment afterward, but otherwise it's working well!
