Alarm issue please help! - has anyone else had this?
#1
Hi, just joined the forum after buying a 2014 Berlingo van.

I brought it home yesterday only to be rudely awoken by the thing last night 5:30 am by the alarm (the alarm just sounds like someone has held the horn down & the lights flash repeatedly). Ran outside scantily clad in the early hours so as not to annoy the neighbours to turn the bloody thing off.

After turning the alarm off and going back to bed it sort of chirped the horn a few times but didn't go off again while I sweated in bed. Further to this it's just gone off again this afternoon (same scenario - alarm followed by chirping after shutting off a few times).

The first instinct might be the key fob so i've ordered two new batteries arriving tomorrow - cynical as I am, I'm almost sure this won't silence this yob I've just brought home (misses is not impressed). Another part of me thinks maybe the battery is tripping it and may need a new one?

Has anyone else had this, would really appreciate any advice i.e. where the sensors are located etc?

Still having major problems with this, I fitted new batteries to both keyfobs and the horn/alarm still keeps going off even when I leave the van unlocked!?

In a desperate attempt, I drove to Halfords tonight to buy a new battery, whilst driving through town the van was beeping at people which sounds quite comical until a guy at the traffic lights looked like he was going to lamp me one. It's now developed this issue while driving.

Update: fitted the new battery tonight in the dark, left the engine running on the driveway for 10 mins - horn/alarm sounded again? Taking it back to the dealer tomorrow as it is under warranty for a month - don't know what else to check?

I've had to disconnect the battery tonight :/

It's still under warranty? Take it back and let someone else worry.

As advised take it back to the dealers and let them fix it. Is it an aftermarket alarm out of interest.
Are we there yet????? Huh

Be sure that all doors and firmly shut and no windows are slightly open - the berlingo alarm has got to be the most sensitive i've ever come across.

Thanks for the advice guys, it's gone back to the dealer today in Leeds. They were very good about it and give me a courtesy car.

I look forward to updating you on the fault when they find it!
