Too much oil
#1
Thinking about the recent changes that have somehow triggered the car to stutter when hot I thought about the oil change I did.

Well actually I didn't... My trusty friend did but I trusted his knowledge.

It appears he as has read the wrong info online and put an extra 1. 25 litres in. The dipstic confirms this.

Stupidity aside, would this cause the car to stutter and feel like its running out of fuel? It only happens when it's hot so I feel like I might be onto something... Oil pressure and all that....

Ill rectify it tomorrow but I'm almost excited to think that this might be the problem.

No mate but you may blow the crank seal so drain the excess out when you can.

Just removed the excess oil and gave her a thrash. Problem solved. I almost can't believe it... I thought I'd blocked an injector up or something but it turns out an extra 1.25L of oil can do some odd things. The stuttering is now gone.and performance is creeping back. Now things make sense... The clouds of white smoke (I thought was a stuck injector), the fact that it run great cold and poo hot was obviously the oil pressure having some type of effect..

The diesal leak was obviously unrelated but my injectors are now bone dry like they should be. No oil or diesal leaks so the £20 injector from the scrap yard was a good punt apposed to going to the specialist and have him test everything and sting me for new.

Yeah... Not sure if you can move this to solved or something but I'm happy it is resolved.

Im not so sure removing the excess oil was not just a coincidence? 1L over is not that much i just cant see that much oil getting into the breather system and if it did why would it give the symptoms you were getting.

Something not right there

I'm not sure of the science but trust me it's solved it. I was starting to loose my marbles but just did a 30mile round trip without missing a beat. It would have gone poo after 5 miles before when it had 5litres of oil in. The power is back and no smoking either.

Sometimes things just happen and no amount of reasoning can figure it.

Glad you found the problem.
