[Engine] 2.0 HDI OBD reader
#1
PHello still struggling with an 04 2.0 hid van that has a bad 'Misfire'. It improved quite a bit when I installed the MAF properly but it is still pretty awful to drive and will on occasion go into'limp mode'
Usually when I am trying to pass someone on the A12!
I have been trying to find a reasonably cheap OBD reader  but it seems that the cheapies will not recognise it. Most state 'not vans' and the one  I picked up definitely won't communicate with it. Does anyone know of a cheapish reader that will talk to it or do I need to spend £££.
I have seen reference to lexia?, is this a laptop program used with the interface leads that are available on eBay,
Thanks in advance,
Andrew

It may be that your van is a bit old for the OBD readers, I think they started to make vans compliant somewhere around 2004/5.
Lexia is a program that runs under Windows XP, Windows7 and sometimes Windows 10. You need the interface hardware, which is what you've seen on eBay, most hardware comes with a DVD which has the Lexia & Diagbox software. After Lexia came Diagbox, which should also work with your van. I've not bought Lexia myself, so will leave it for others to recommend.

Thank you for the info, yes it looks like 04 was the start point for the diesel engines and there is a 16 pin port on the van to plug a reader into so I had assumed that is what it was for.
Sometimes I just want to scream when I run across this sort of thing, very frustrating.

The Lexia interface uses the same OBD socket, it just talks a different protocol.
