New Owner - Adblue
#1
Hello guys, this is my first post on here. I recently purchased a 2019 Citroen Berlingo Enterprise Van. its the 1.6 HDI model? Its done 9k miles and overall Im fairly impressed with it. Its well specced and has some very clever ideas such as the collapsible bulkhead, stage solutions etc. However I have a question (well a few actually, but this ones important).

I've never owned a car with Adblue and if Im honest, knew nothing about it other than I see it when filling up with fuel on offer in petrol stations in 10l containers. I only noticed this when I went to fill it up for the first time, and there is the port to enter adblue. I never paid it much thought till today. I Was sat in traffic, and I pressed the Spanner button on the dials. I got the following information:

1: Tyre Pressures OK
2: 14995 miles till service
3. To No Start 1700 miles with the adblue light illuminated briefly.

Now, Im guessing that means in 1700 miles, my van won't start due to lack of adblue. Fair enough.

But can I just go and get a container and fill it back up now? Do I have to wait for the light to come on? How much does it hold? IF I fill it up, does the information re calibrate itself and tell me how many miles till its needed again or does this need to be done at a dealer?

Ideally, Id like to top it up now, cause 1700 miles will be eaten this month, but need to know how and when it can be done?

Thanks in advance

the no start 1700 miles does not mean you only have enough adblue for this distance, the ad blue should last 5000 miles at least, depending on driving style mine did 8500 miles before the warning light came on and the told me that the no start would be in 1700 miles.
The no start warning starts to count down when there is only enough adblue for 1700 miles and flashes warning messages on the dash. the tank should be topped up with a minimum of 5 ltrs of ad blue or the warning lights will no reset

Hi Guys thanks for the replies. I was driving along and it popped up on the main 8” screen starting impossible in 1500 miles so i needed fuel anyway so I topped up with adblue. Shell only had a 4.7l bottle with a spout, so I put the lot in, but guessing nothing has reset as the above post says it needed to be 5 litres minimum? The button on the dash still says no start in 1700 miles?

Adblue tank is about 13 litres if i recall - I buy it in Halfords as its normally two for one. Eurcarparts is normally quite cheap too.

ignore the 1700 mile bit - it will always say that while its got a drop in the tank - the warning will come up on the dash when it needs filling up and even then you'll have around 1000 miles left.

Thank you, so can I just leave it with the 4.7 litres of Ad Blue ive put in and not worry about it till I get the warning up again on the main screen? It doesnt need to be filled up in 5litre minimums to reset it?

Thanks

Yep it'll be fine for the moment - i seem to be filling mine every 10,000 miles or so. I wait till the adblue light comes on on the dash cluster.
