Greetings all

New on here and hoping the community can assist.

I own a 57 Plate Multispace - bought secondhand August 2018.

Car suffered a front passenger tyre blowout on the motorway last month. All fixed now yet some problems found at the garage.

The spare wheel carrier hook was rusted solid unable to unhook the apparatus. Mechanics eventually had to take it and the wheel off from underneath.

Spare tyre then found to have deteriorated. The spare wheel is apparently fine to use, if a bit rusty.

I'm getting a spare tyre from a local garage this week but how best to source a replacement hook and carrier ? I assume an Ebay hunt but some advice on particular types to match my vehicle model would be appreciated.

Cheers

I think that any M59 spare wheel carrier will be the same so you could get one from a breaker. There's at least one on here in the for sale section. You need to be sure it's an M59 model, but chances are that it would be in 2007. You can tell by the headlights and other styling which model it is, a quick search online will find pictures.

If you have a breakers near you that's probably your quickest option or just cut the old one off and get one of ebay. https://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_from=...k&_sacat=0
You could try a soaking it in plusgas then try two pairs of mole grips to try and free the one you have. Problem you have is they don't get moved for years and seize up so coat the next one in coppaslip to stop it seizing.
Are we there yet????? Huh
Ex 1.6hdi van now 3 seater 1.4 multispace

Ours was seized when we first got it and I released it by jacking up the frame and wheel and prising the hook out. I managed to free it off in situ and put it back together and have kept an eye on it over the years.
So where does this bit go then ?

A common issue I am finding amongst Berlingo owners. Mine has been into a garage and they can't get it off.
They told me the spare wheel appears never to have been used and has seized up due to rust and lack of maintenance. A replacement and sawing off the old one looks the likely solution.
I've learned a lesson to keep an eye on it once all put back in to place.
