FFS left work today, drove 1/4 mile at most stopped, fan running, 10 mins later got in the van and would not start, battery light flashing, gauges stuttering movement, got the battery on charge overnight, going to have to take it somewhere ASAP. cannot wait for diagbox delivery and possible installation probe with windows 8.

Sounds like either the battery on its way out. Or you have water in the BSI module mate. Not uncommon.

Ok, dpf clean works best at steady 65 in 4th or 5th, best is 4th for a steady 15 mins max. No dropping below 65 and no higher than 70. Hold that for the 15 mins on a clear stretch of motorway and it should initiate a clean of the dpf and complete it in that time.
You could put a bottle of Wynn's dpf cleaner in prior to the run. Dont listen to nonsense about hammering it at 80, the ECU will not try a clean at those speeds for safety reasons. The dpf will heat to 900c so it needs steady flow of exhaust and stable speed.

tried the dpf cleaner and a run at 65mph but fan still running when i got home, think its the fan running after turning off thats draining the battery as its running for about 10min or so.

The cooling fan and the coolant temperature gauge are all operated by the engine management electronic control module (ECM) using the signal from the coolant temperature sensor. This sensor is fitted to the coolant housing on the left-hand end of the cylinder head.
Sounds like there is either a problem with the sensor or the ECM. There is also a dual speed fan assembly control.
What does the temperature gauge read when the engine is warmed up and running?
I think you need to get the vehicle scanned with Lexia/Diagbox.

Diagbox is software. Did you get the Lexia cable interface too?

Cool, just follow the install instructions carefully and it will work. Some faults take a bit of time to resolve and DB costs nothing once you have it.
