Floppy gear stick

hi all, i have berlingo forte 1.9d 03 model ,how much play should there be on the connection between the gearstick and the gearshift rod ,the three rods at the other end of the gearshift rod are quite stable ,well no play !! and my gearstick is quite floppy ,any input would be much appreciated , thanks in advance

Not sure if this is your problem but our gearstick was all over the place and almost impossible to select a gear. Had the rubber bushes replaced and like new. Don't think it was a big job.

Mine was playing up and finally threw one of the linkages behind the engine, had t replace them all.

i had the same problem (floppy vauge gearstick ) i replaced the 3 linkage rods brouht from ebay and all was nice and tight again.

lesB thanks for the reply ,exactly where are these rubber bushes situated ???as i said the three small rods at the front are quite stable so are you referring to the long rod coming from the gearstick???

thanks alot landcrab, all three rods feel quite stable to me !! I'll  have to compare them with a chaps lingo who lives just around the corner from me !!
