Urea light not going out
#1
Hi All,

First of all - THE ADBLUE TANK WAS FULL!

I have been scunnered three times now on the Urea light not going out and doing the annoying countdown from 750 miles. Dealer does not want to know and anyway, can't do anything for three weeks as has no slots (2nd time of happening - same at next nearest). Local garage changed the Nox sensor (RAC warranty) and was ok for a while but after driving for 50 miles at a shot, the engine warning and urea lights came on and the countdown started.

First time, no countdown started but resetting using a £10 reset box worked, second time, wee box did not work. Countdown started. Found an engine remap guy and he fixed it with a professional box. He was stumped at first but then he worked it out that there are two sensors which need synching. As so as they did, it cleared the Urea light and countdown. He mentioned the system calculates how much ADBLUE is in the system. The numbers used in this calculation can be adjusted and this he did.

There is still a query about the float switrch in the ADBLUE not working and this is a pricey fix - new tank is £1k they say. It may be possible to whack the tack with a rubber hammer to free it and so I shall be getting one.

I hope this helps some confused soul who may end up being prey to this immature technology. I'm totally pro the eco thing but if it causes this sort of crap.....

Replies on this welcome, even if it's to tell me I'm wrong. :-D

Best to you's all!

Maximan.

If you purchased this from a dealer either new or secondhand the car is not fit for purpose so I would be be quoting the Consumer Rights act 2015 to them and telling them to fix it at no cost to you. If it was through a citroen dealer I would get on to head office and really kick up a stink demanding the dealer fixes it.
Are we there yet????? Huh

Hi Maximan and all interested parties. I too have real grief with this UREA warning light and the 700 mile no reststart warning too. OK, what have I done?
I have with a normal code reader ascertained that the Code is P20E8 indicating low pressure from the pump. I have cleared the fault several times and it just comes back, (yes I have the later cap).
I got a price of over £1,000 + fitting (although the fitting charge was reasonable by main agent standards.
So where next?
1. I am going to let the Peugeot agent do the analysis so if they diagnose it they are moe likely to take responsibility for their work
2. I am expecting it to be the whole tank from my diagnosis
3. I am not going to fit it myself as the new unit needs to have a little 'teach in' with the ECU (reprogramming they say)

All of this goes against the grain as it is almost unheard of for me to pay a garage for anything other than tyres or annual MOT test.
BUT
Look at the video at this link https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UmnpfIcHvlU It is in Italian with good English subtitles but I have to say it is by far the best description of the AdBlu / UREA system in total and they take the tank apart and go through the components. (Now I know why the thing costs a grand plus and why it wants reprogramming)
Very good video, watch it before you make a decision my friend.

Did you manage to get the issue resolved. I have the same problem on our 2016 model.

That will not help. Also the additive pump will run dry and will be damaged.

If you have warnings on the dashboard, there is nothing you can remove that will stop them.
