Dash Lights
#1
Hi guys,

I have a dingo van 2007 1.6hdi and when i turn key to II all the lights light up on the dash except an engine management light, pic of yellow engine symbol.
\Is this normal?
I took out the clocks but there is no such thing as pulling EML bulb like on older cars/vans.

Is there a way of doing a bulb test or full dash illumination like other vehicles?

There are no fault codes showing on OBD so i presume everything is ok.

Msany thanks in advance.

The light should be there with ignition on before you crank - have a closer look at the clocks there may be tape or gum/blu tac stuck in there to block the view of the EMl LED??

Hi GraemeT, No, theres no  tape on it, it dosent illuminate at all, i read somewhere that maybe it is not connected and that the STOP warning dash light is the one to go by???

And the bulb cannot be got at, so bulb not taken out,

It should be there. The stop warning is just a PSA thing so maybe they coloured it in with a Sharpie...do you have Lexia or Diagbox? It has to be obd compliant at least so the light needs to work. Try lightly cleaning the symbol with a cotton bud soaked in alcohol. You can find where it should be with a strong torch. That's if it's been coloured in with felt pen. Not unknown.

I don't think the stop light comes on for stuff like emissions etc, only the EML. That could trip you up come MOT time. That EML needs to show up when the ignition is on.

Hi - only other suggestion is that maybe it has been remapped and the ECU map loaded in has had the EML coded out in some fashion. Have a look at the ECU itself and see if there's any sign of it having been opened and resealed (or maybe even a sticker on the outside). AFAIK all the Bosch ECU's on the Berlingos need to be physically opened and bench mapped as opposed to being 'flashed' view the OBD socket

Good point Graham, especially if they did this to circumvent the EML from the egr being blanked...but crude tho if so. Could have coded the egr out directly.
