Why didn't you put the 6 speed gearbox from the 120bhp version?

Because the only ones I could find for sale were around the £500 mark, and I still didn't know for sure whether I'd need to change driveshafts or clutch/flywheel or whatever, so wasn't willing to spend that amount with the possibility of having to spend more. Doing it this way cost me £250 all in with new clutch kit, new box oil and new driveshaft mid-bearing

How about the clutch? is it the same of your 20dp33?
Yep same clutch, box slipped straight onto splines. Same driveshafts everything. A fairly easy swap to do for anyone good with their spanners. I say easy, there's one or two bolts that are a pig to get to, and you probably need a mate to help lift/align box back on but apart from that..

We have swapped our 5speed 1.6 B9 for a 6 speed 1.5 K9. The K9 fuel consumption is worse and apart from being a litte quieter I can't tell any difference in driving.

With the k9 gearbox you have worse fuel consumption?
How much engine rpm at 130km/h ?
Beside gearbox did you need anything else? And do you think it's worth the swap or not?

I couldn't find anything definitive online whether there was a 6 speed box that bolted straight on without having to change shafts, clutch/flywheel etc. But I was also not happy sitting at 2500 revs doing 70mph it doesn't seem very efficient at all. The box on my van was a 20dp33 which I think is fitted to most of partner/Berlingo b9s. Since I couldn't find any info about a 6 speed conversion I decided to look for a 5 speed with a longer 5th. Again managed to come up with no info anywhere regarding that either. So I decided to take a wild stab in dark. Just searched 1.6hdi box on eBay, and tried to imagine what cars might be more for cruising. Spotted a 60k box for a c4 cactus (code 20et15) for only £150 and thought f it n hit buy. It looked identical to mine so I knew it'd bolt up to the engine fine, just needed to swap selector on top from my old box. It arrived day after n I fitted it last weekend with a new clutch etc. I'm pleased to confirm 4th n 5th gears are both slightly longer n now the van sits at about 1900revs for 70mph now as apposed to the 2500revs with the old box. Very happy with the results n now I don't find myself automatically looking for 6th hearing the engine revving on motorway

That's a major improvement!! Going from roughly 37mpg to 45mpg. My van needs a clutch soon so I think I'll go for this swap. Thanks a million!

Will the 120bhp gearbox fit then?

Peter
I am interested to know if it was a straight swap without the need for additional modifications. thank you.
