Hi Guys,
I have a 2005 Peugeot Partner 1.9D.
The check engine light is always on. I have tried 2 readers and a couple garages and there are absolutely no codes stored. Even with their expensive readers.
I have tried to clear the codes, it's still there. I have disconnected the battery, it's still there.
The best theory any mechanic can give me is that perhaps the fuel pump has been changed and the ECU doesn't like it.
The new MOT rules mean it will fail the MOT regardless of it passing the emmisions test.
Any advice on how to get rid of the damn thing?
Honestly tempted to just get behind the facia and put a bit of tape over the bulb but will be really embarassing if I get caught.
Cheers guys,
Scott

The 'tape over the bulb' trick won't work for the MOT as the light has to come on when the ignition is turned on and then go out when engine started for a pass.

Is your oil level low? Worth a check in a flat surface after it has stood for a while. That could put the EML on with no standard obd codes.
Remember, manufacturer's specific codes can often not be read even by expensive readers, and Citroen are definitely no exception there. Lexia / pp2000 or Diagbox would read everything, they are PSA OEM diagnostic kit. You can buy a kit from eBay for around £40, very handy. Best used on a win 7 or xp notebook or laptop.
But, check oil and maybe even brake fluid levels first. Does it beep at you once each time you start it? As the EML comes on?
Plus, MOT stations know to check the light comes on with ignition before starting and should go out within a second of firing up. No light at all, or constantly on, are both immediate fails.
Covering it up will not get the MOT passed.
Edit: sorry, duplicate info....was typing while Pedronicus had already posted above regarding the MOT rules.

Yep, the best thing to do next is get it hooked up to Lexia or the later version which is Diagbox, as Zion says it may be a specific Citroen fault that doesn't show up on normal scanners. You can do that either by getting your own kit or finding an indie Citroen / Peugeot garage, or maybe someone near you can help.
French Car Forum & Peugeot Forum's have a list of members with Lexia / Diagbox.
Just a thought, is the brake fluid level, oil level & coolant level correct?
