ETG6 Parking In Gear?
#1
Hi, I am new to the 6ETG box. I have driven vehicles with crash, manual and auto transmission.

Is it safe to stop the engine in gear when parking?

As i have noticed that the when leaving it with the gearbox in the A or R position and handbrake off, the wheels remain locked and the car stays stationary. Doing the same leaving it in N, it rolls as expected. I ask the question because of the absents of a "PARK" position and when purchasing the car, the salesman told me that it must stopped and left it in neutral when switching the engine off. Thanks.

Personally I would leave it in neutral, you have to remember that it is just a normal manual gearbox.
If the car shifts a little & you left it in gear , a lot of force will, or could be put on the transmission, which is not an issue, however, the force required to get it back into neutral for starting would be considerable, and could cause stress on the robotic change mechanism.

I suppose you could as it is a automated manual but i believe it selects neutral in drive when stationary unless your foot is off then it selects 1st then creeps. So i Agree with the salesman and Lighty. I've worked on a couple of Citroen's with the ESG6 and ETG5 boxes and i just leave them in neutral and put the handbrake on.
