[Engine] Harmonic balancer removal

Hey guys, 

quick question

Need to remove the harmonic balancer on my M59 1.4i kfw 2006. I've removed the three bolts holding it on but it will not budge will i need the removal tool to get it off? 

I just watched a video and it showed them taking out the centre crank shaft bolt aswell to get it off, is this correct? I've just read online that you should not remove the centre nut and that the balancer should just pull off however it will not come off.
