I am looking to buy a 2020 Berlingo Flair SWB with the intention of having it converted to a Dayvan/camper. My question is, I would not wish to buy a diesel (I do appreciate that a modern diesel is as clean as a petrol) as I fear that they may be heavily penalised possibly by fuel duty in the future as they are an easy target. That leaves me with the only option being the 1.2 petrol variant. A test drive would answer my question but due to the ongoing situation that is currently out of the question so I am relying on the knowledge of the forum to advise me, Is the 1.2 petrol a slug or is it well up to the job.
Geoff.

Reading the specs of that car on Autocar, it's 0-60 is stated as "unspecified" so not a good start, but being a 3 cylinder engine with 109 bhp, and a car weighing 1.5 tonnes, it's about 73 bhp per tonne, so yeah it's a wee bit of a slug already, though they say it pulls well in the midrange. Add a camper conversion and luggage, personally I think it would be a dead weight.
The diesel version is Euro 6, so is green zone and ulez exempt, plus £30 road tax per year, I know what I would choose.

That's weird. Checking the 1.2 on the Norwegian site shows it as 130BHp.
I specced out a 'Feel' version with just the basics, and it lists 0 - 100Km/h as 10.5 seconds.
Anyway, that's a lot of power coming from such a dinky engine.
(The EB2 is a rather new engine model. I don'tthink there's all that much long term experience with it, yet.)
It's a turbo, though, so be careful about the oil you use.

130 bhp from a 3 cylinder 1.2 is hard to believe. I read the official Autocar test. Search for that one. 10.5 is equivalent to a 0-60 that needs prior notice in writing to overtake a truck...
If Autocar had the figures for 0-60 they would publish it. They said it was undisclosed by Citroen.
