Check for good service history, especially that oil changes have been carried out. The 1.6 HDi is sensitive to problems from poor oil maintenance. Other than that, they're pretty good. Make sure it runs smoothly when cold, no lumpy idle or heavy smoking when first started. Check when you test drive it, that the engine is actually stone cold or the seller could have warmed it up to hide a (possibly) hard to solve issue with cold start smoking and hunting / lumpy idle.
Next are common tests to carry out on most cars however. Check the clutch doesn't slip and doesn't bite too high, no clatters from the suspension and no groaning when turning the steering lock to lock.
Testing the clutch involves pulling the handbrake on firmly then trying to pull away in 1st gear with the handbrake still on, if it tries to stall, the clutch is ok. If it isn't ok, it will slip at that point.
Parts are mostly cheap and easy to swap on these vehicles. The worst job is rear axle pivot bearings if they show up bad at MOT testing.
Very important - ask for evidence of a cam belt change as it would have been due between 80k and 100k miles. If not, that will be your first expense.

No service history however I am going to service it as soon as I get it if all is ok, also heard getting dpf delete should help? Looking like cam belt needs doing as it’s currently on 115k, the van is for sale at around 1300 is that about right? I’ll be sure to do your tests and a big thank you for your help

A DPF delete will possibly lead to MOT failure during the smoke test. That's a chance you take though and would probably require a remap to prevent error codes accumulating.
I'd pitch for about £1000 as the middle value for the van / car so not too bad I guess. Depends on overall condition. I traded a 2007 van a year ago, with 56k miles, full service history and no dents, clean as a whistle and got £600 for it. I just paid £5k for a 2012 Enterprise B9 van with 60k miles, full service history and immaculate, having been one owner from new and used only as a private car. It's all down to mileage, age, and condition.
I don't think you're getting a bad deal on the face of it there.

Okay so it had a fail on the 4th of October with this, then later the same day was tested and passed, still with the advisories and minor defects

Repair as soon as possible (minor defects):
- Nearside Registration plate lamp inoperative in the case of multiple lamps or light sources (4.7.1 (b) (i))
Monitor and repair if necessary (advisories):
- Offside Front Tyre worn close to legal limit/worn on edge (5.2.3 (e))
- Offside Rear Tyre worn close to legal limit/worn on edge (5.2.3 (e))
- Nearside Front Anti-roll bar ball joint has slight play (5.3.4 (a) (i))

Thanks for your help, I’m gonna go have a look at it tomorrow and if all’s well I think I’ll end up buying it
