I am looking to replace the original front pads, I looked at a few threads and it said I need a t55 socket which I have, I removed the plastic caps on the caliper and the bolts have a 7mm hex bolt head, is this correct or do I have a different type of caliper bolt to most, I have read these bolts are loctited in so I am a bit concerned about rounding out a small hexagon head if the bolt wont come loose, my van is a 2014 with 40,000 mls and I am on the standard pads, thanks

The T55 bolts are for the caliper carrier bracket which the caliper is fitted to, you would only need remove this to fit new brake discs.
To fit new pads you only need to remove the caliper that is held in place with the 7mm hex pins.
The hex pins won't round off and will come undone with a little force.

The 7mm key is quite common for brake pad pins. IIRC they are used on Fords & Fiats amongst others. The most expensive one I've seen is at Halfords but it does come with a nice handle.

yes i have just ordered a 7mm x 3/8 drive hex socket from halfords, £4, so that's ok,

Just be careful sometimes the 7mm hex slider pins can be a bit tight which can be caused by the rubber expanding and gripping them to tightly making them a bit harder to come off and obviously with enough force they will snap. If they come out ok just make sure to put plenty of your choice of grease through the rubber and clean the sliders as well and give them a bit of grease. Good thing is about that caliper design is that its unlikely you can hydraulic the pins so unlike the conventional type, grease to ones content.

And make sure that your choice of grease is proper brake grease or rubber grease not Copaslip or bearing grease. Copaslip dries up and bearing grease swells and rots the rubbers.
So where does this bit go then ?
