New member MK1 Berlingo van/camper
#1
Hello there, I've got myself a mk1.5 berlingo van wich I'm attempting to turn into a camper. Not the biggest camper in the world but I'm quite small so it works. I've done the insulation/ carpet. Put in a bed which folds down in 3 sections and has a bit at the end that you attach. I'ts got a 19 inch (I think) tv that pops down from the roof. The next thing I want to do is put a table/cabinet on the one side so I have maybe a sink/cooker/storage in there.

I like the look of the berlingo, I think it looks good even after 18 years. Something else I'd like to do is maybe change the suspension to make it a bit lower and get some nicer wheels on there but I don't know my options. maybe one day change the engine for something with a bit more power. I'ts got the 2.0 hdi so it's not bad! I was looking at newer hdi engines and came across a 2.2 hdi that is 180bhp but I don't know if that would be possible.

You have a 2.0 HDi?

What the ... do you need more power for?
Says the nutcase with he 1.4i...

Going up in engine size will most likely result in needing to improve the brakes and suspension.
(I'm not certain about UK law about that. Here in Norway it's so much red tape that... I wouldn't have to repaint my Berlingo. I could just wrap it in tape... )

Yours look pretty nice. No dents visible in the picture.
It's the best looking series, really. The low headlights gives them a kind of 'cheeky' look.
Now, if it only was the right colour...
(Inferno Red, of course)
;-)

Cheers Gadgetman

I drove a fairly quick car for about 7 years before I started driving the berlingo, I just need to get used to it. I know they can be modified to over 140bhp so I would try that first before swapping anything. Suspension is something I would like to do anyway and maybe I could get brakes off aa gti-6 or something??

There's lots of tiny dents on the sides from when the van was working and things would bang against it but overall it's very tidy. You are right about the colour, but I can live with it Smile

I will probably just lower it ( if I can adjust the rear.. ) and get some nice wheels and concentrate more on the inside. Just need to get myself a cabinet so I can put my cooker on it and have some nice storage.
