I think the power cable actually splits in two, connected by a push in jack or barrel connector or some other plug, so you may be onto something. I'll try to take a pic of mine for you. You may just be missing the end bit as the preceding owner may have had the socket part moved to the pillar trim, so the end could be removed or changed more easily?

That would be a great idea if it’s true.
I’ve ordered a 12v to 5 v converter with 2 usb outputs.
This will do both phone with only a short length of cable seen at pillar and dash cam with cable hidden.
I’ll use phone for satnav if needed.

I'd test that Jack with a plug and meter, if it comes from the satnav main controller (tracker module) it's already 5v.
