Battery light stuck on
#1
I have a 2006 1.6 hdi van.

I have an issue with the battery light staying on and heater not working at idle, I have checked and the battery is fine and its charging at 14.4v, the exciter wire is also giving out 14.4v.

When I set off and get to about 20mph the battery light goes out and the heater starts working, does anyone have any ideas what it could be?

I am not sure if its related but the rev counter has never worked either.

I thought about doing a BSI reset but the only instructions I can find require a remote key fob and it doesn't have one

Thanks for that, do you think a reset may sort the issue?

A BSI reset probably won't hurt but TBH, I think you have a loose wire somewhere.

As cancunia says , probably a loose wire somewhere or the running relay (on the inner wing near the engine fusebox) earth might need cleaning .

It doesn't appear to have the running relay on the inner wing?

I have tried the reset but it didn't seem to work.

Can you swap the BSI units on these without it needing reprogramming? It had the immobilizer removed prior to me getting it
