Fuel filler neck...split
#1
Hello all,

My fuel filler neck is split where the cap screws in.

I was hoping some one could point me the way to where i could obtain a relacement. I have tried the internet but end up more confused as it looks like i have to buy a whole thing rather than just the top bit the cap screws in. I have not taken it apart so if that is what i need the so be it. I just wanted to see if any one has any idea.
Cheers all. ( citroen berlingo 1.9d from 2001).

Good luck in finding one online. I'd suggest a breaker's yard.

Mine failed a couple of years ago, so I've been driving with a temp cap plugged in instead of the original.

I see you have a sliding door...
I opened my door fully so that I could get to the lating mehanism(in the pillar, about the same height as a regular door lock), unscrewed it carefully, and extracted it, then used zip-ties to fasten the door hook in the open position.
(Otherwise you have to press the silver button when opening the door until you've got the neck replaced. )

I did not leave a result here sooner as i glued the split filler neck up with superglue and did not want to post a result if the repair did not work.

First i wiped the area with gunk degreaser and then gave it a good old rubbing with a clean cloth. Then, superglue!

It has been a few months now and it has held through all including being sat out in bloody hot days where we had been having 38 degrees celcius in the shade.

So for me....a resounding success, especially as i did not want to replace it.

Today I replaced the filler neck, same problem. I have a rather difficult one with four pipes. Because my car is of 2001, the part is out-of-stock by PSA. It's a Pertrol car. Lucky I found a breaker car with this part!
It is not so difficult to replace the neck. Someone placed on this forum a short howto.

I also disabled the lating mechanism of the sliding door (see previous post Gadgetman). Maybe the the reason of the split is the button operation is too heavy by rust/dust and killed the neck. So I locked the hook with a screw and removed also the complete cable with button.
You have to know there are a lot of different filler necks!
