Problem with audible alarm for lights
#1
Hi, I have a Berlingo 1.6HDi First 2008 diesel. I've had it about 6 months. About November it started making a "lights on" audible alarm sound even though the lights were off and the key was out of the ignition. Sometimes this stops when I tap the end of the lighting control stick.Confusedcratch:
Sometimes the lights stay on when they are turned off!
It seems to be getting more frequent.
Any ideas?

Sounds like your Lights stalk is faulty since you say that the lights do their own thing sometimes. These can be picked up fairly cheaply and there is a tutorial on this site about removing them from the steering column.

Hi, thanks for replying. This morning I sat in the car and had another try of the lights.
Now when the lights are off, the dashboard light icon is on and the lights are on.
When I turn the side lights on the dash board light icon is off, but the lights are on.
When lights are on full the dashboard light icon is on and the lights are on.
Then when I went out the indicators stopped working when the lights were switched to off, but worked when I switched the lights on!
I will get a stalk and try that.
Its driving me mad!
thanks again

Hi, check all connections to the steering column ecu espec. the 6pin grey one. If you are going to pull these connections out do a shutdown of the bsi and disconnect battery. Dont' forget to do a start up procedure after you have finished.

Hi, my neighbour has stuck his hand under my dashboard at the side where the light stick is and proddled about  (with the engine on) and there was a beeping noise, so he pushed all the connectors in and bingo! Confusedunny:
"touchwood" it seems to be working again.
So I'll just have to see how it goes.
Thanks for your help guys
