New Firmware update for 2020 Berlingo Van!
#21
I posted earlier on this, and for my Berlingo, Citroen don't make the firmware update available. You have to have it done via a Citroen dealer, which I think is quite poor to be honest, for a pretty simple job. However, I have booked mine in, but it is delayed because of staff on furlough. But the dealer did say the firmware updates works half the time; the other half, it totally bricks the unit, and you need a whole new touchscreen, costing god knows how much. Now, I'm not blaming the dealer for this - they were being very upfront with me. But Citroen itself I do blame. This is a known and common fault, as can be seen from this thread. My car is only four years old, but out of warranty of course.

Wrong firmware - you are talking about the SMEG unit as found in the B9, not the current 10" touchscreen found in the K9 berlingo. Two very different animals where the firmware for the K9 is made available to the user via the MYCitroen App

The licence key is in the root folder - hence you unzip the entire folder to the USB memory stick. Citroen have just made it easier with software to download via your PC or MAC where it unzips direct to the USB

That's what I also figured logically, because the file automatically unpacked into the subfolder.

Thanks for all your help but still no joy.  Instructions  say “Licence” folder on your USB stick (please use this exact spelling" but 2 lines below spell it "license"   key file is spelt with an s as well .   also citroen program that it now points you to  puts "rcc_update" folder with executable files in which is different to all instructions.  lastly do you think it will work on most USB sticks if they are big enough?

On my 2016 Berlingo, B9, where the touch screen is constantly rebooting, I'm wondering about buying a second hand unit and installing that (as opposed to a £1200 or whatever new unit). Does anyone know if I can just plug in another unit, or do I need to use diagnostic software (which I don't have) to program it for the car, my VIN or whatever?

Again, thanks in advance!

You do. It will need coded to the vehicle using Lexia/DiagBox. 2016 is still a B9 so you're lucky, the K9 configuration is online only so has to be a dealership job.

I’ve just had an update via My Citroen App on my iPhone to update the firmware on the Citroen Connect System Touchscreen. The version is 42.01.72.32_NAC-r0 - 20/05/2020. The mapping is fine. Anyway, I downloaded the new software update and installed it into my touchscreen following all the instructions and the firmware update registered as successful. However, when I view the system update on the touchscreen, it definitely shows the same and new software version as noted above, but the date shows 18/03/2020 and not 20/05/2020 which appears on the My Citroen iPhone App. My question is, does this mean my system has been updated with the new software regardless of the date?

I spoke to my dealer at the service department and they said the update wouldn’t have gone through if there was no update due in the first place and to ignore the date of the update! I’m assuming they’re correct as everything is operating perfectly well and just to reconfirm the new update serial number matches the one shown on the update page on the My Citroen app!

If anyone can shed light on this I’d be grateful! Normally with “mapping“ updates, any updates if installed correctly, normally drop off from the app meaning that I now have everything up to date! Many thanks! Wink
