New Firmware update for 2020 Berlingo Van!
#1
Hi All!

I’ve just had an update via My Citroen App on my iPhone to update the firmware on the Citroen Connect System Touchscreen. The version is 42.01.72.32_NAC-r0 - 20/05/2020. The mapping is fine. Anyway, I downloaded the new software update and installed it into my touchscreen following all the instructions and the firmware update registered as successful. However, when I view the system update on the touchscreen, it definitely shows the same and new software version as noted above, but the date shows 18/03/2020 and not 20/05/2020 which appears on the My Citroen iPhone App. My question is, does this mean my system has been updated with the new software regardless of the date?

I spoke to my dealer at the service department and they said the update wouldn’t have gone through if there was no update due in the first place and to ignore the date of the update! I’m assuming they’re correct as everything is operating perfectly well and just to reconfirm the new update serial number matches the one shown on the update page on the My Citroen app!

If anyone can shed light on this I’d be grateful! Normally with “mapping“ updates, any updates if installed correctly, normally drop off from the app meaning that I now have everything up to date! Many thanks! Wink

Chances are that the firmware & app have different release dates.

Has the firmware done anything different - i've not bothered since mine all seems to work fine anyway?

Oh what was the update time?

Everything seems to function perfectly well! Update time was much quicker than mapping updates. About an hour to download as my WiFi is quite slow. Then download to my USB was 10 minutes and once inserted into the van it was quite quick!

I tried it with three different USB sticks and none worked. It said “USB device not supported” for the two USB3.0 sticks and did not recognize a Kingston 2.0 at all.

All sorted! Here’s the instructions I used! The app has confirmed the update is current!

Managed to update the firmware. The instruction sent in the e-mail was wrong:

"To perform the update, you need to download the files on your computer, save them on a USB key (minimum capacity of 16 GB) and install them in your vehicle touchscreen."

There was no specific instruction for key file so I initially copied it into the root folder.
The nav system update has different file list but the instructions showed a "license" folder. Created one and copied the key file in it. Worked like a charm.

NB: the update file size was 6.6GB total. 8GB USB key worked fine.

Given that I lost phone contact and recent calls access from the head unit with my update I wish I hadn't done it.

Hey! Who was the dealer? Anyways...the mapping update and firmware update are two different things.  Hence the reason why your My Citroen app advises you of the 2 different updates if they are required. This is my 2nd new Berlingo Van as I had to reject the first vehicle due to body trim issues on the front wings. On both vehicles, past and current, I’ve always done the update at home using my Mac laptop. Like you, I was prompted to update the firmware from the Citroen app! Bear in mind I drive the Driver model which does have sat nav. In my opinion, you should take your van to another dealership for a second opinion or call Citroen Customer Care, who will pass your query to the Citroen Connect team, but quite frankly I’d go with what your app has listed as it’s working from the VIN number that you would of included when setting up the app for your van. Hope you get it sorted!
