[Engine] Fan problem
#11
True, and Aircon stays selected between engine starts, even if the temp control is turned up to warm setting.

My thoughts are:

1. Do a BSI reset. Battery disconnect may fix it anyway but if not do a full BSI reset and see what happens.

2. Check you have no water ingress into the BSI

3. Check and clean the ECU plugs and refit them. Use alcohol cleaner or switch cleaner, not wd40 or anything like it
Did BSI and cleaned ecu plugs ............. It's fixed thankyou so much you've made my day it's been driving me bloody mad for ages  Smile Smile Wink

I have the same problem on my 2013 it in the garage at the moment who said the outside temp sensor is not working so they are going to change the sensor will see if it works to stop the fan running on.

The outside temp sensor has nothing to do with the engine fan running. Try what I advised the original poster to do, it worked. And check your air con is not switched on, as others pointed out.

If a garage suggested the outside temperature sensor was to blame, you'd be better off staying away from them. They clearly have no idea what they're doing. Engine fans are driven by coolant temperature and only that. Except for being used to cool the Aircon condenser when A/C is on.

The garage said the diagnostic test showed the outside temp as faulty they changed the sensor which has fixed the fault. Smile

The outside temperature sensor does not control the engine cooling fan. No matter who says it does.

That sensor is in your driver's outside mirror, if you look underneath there's a little bump. That's the sensor. It measures the temperature and displays it on the central display, that is all it does mate. It's built into the mirror casing.

The engine coolant temperature sensor controls the fan. You sure you haven't picked them up wrong mate.

Was your temperature display on the centre dash display showing crazy values? I guess not.
