YTo the berlingo engine mods.i have 2013 Citroen berlingo 1.6 8v hdi 75hp engine, now I have it mapped to 120 hp with egr deleth..dpf still in there. Now I want to go to 145hp but I need to swap out the turbo as mine has hit its limit.i need the turbo from the 100hp standard berlingo and fit to mine with bigger intercooler too.turbo more or less straight swap.i know my ecu wont be able to control the bigger turbo(different actuator) unless I get ecu mapped or get a plug and play box.im just wondering has anyone gone down this route and how did van react to this mod.i know all engines use same ford 1.6 block which is well able for 145 hp if done correctly has anybody done this thanks.

I’ve looked into this myself recently, the turbo is an easy swap but the mapping is more costly than the simple 120hp upgrade.
The intercooler is a simple upgrade too if you’re handy with that sort of thing.
My worry with this upgrade is the big torque gain at 2400rpm,if you’re clutch isn’t too healthy then you’ll be into the cost of a new one or something better.
HDI tuning will sort the mapping but if you look at his dyno graphs and compare the 120hp to the 145hp you’ll see it’s a big chunk of torque in one hit.
I’d probably be looking at £800 ish for the complete job with second hand turbo if I did the work myself, and to be honest that’s a lot of money for 25hp with probable clutch issues and a DPF delete pipe to sort out.
I’m personally going 120 with mine for now.
There is a video from abroad on YouTube that has the conversion you’re considering but it’s not the best.

Thanks for posting that bit of info on clutch end.as I said iv had the 120 hp map done with egr deleth and made great difference.i should have got dpf taken out and gutted and deleted cause now I’m finding with egr deleth my dpf is blocking up quicker as I don’t do many motorway miles.im lucky I live beside a motorway cause at least once a month the dpf light comes on and I have to fly up motorway for 20 mins till it unblocks.so now I’m going to get dpf sorted and that means another remap to deleth dpf (more money)but the map is worth it.very nippy for a van.iv heard of hdi tuning uk I will look them up.it is lot money to get few more extra hp and torque I know but I’m just looking into it for now.my van was an x English van enterprise model side steps bull bars black on black van.nice.only used as car.defo get urs mapped if you have 75 hp model.

Ecu to order at end of this month for me,definitely too slow at the minute.
Are you’re black side bars prone to scuffing or chips?

HDI tuning will send you a complete mapped Ecu that is unlocked so you can just plug it in.

Let us know how it goes mate,I’d had same idea with gutting a used DPF.
When you get the turbo make sure it comes with oil feed and return pipes, you’ll need a new banjo bolt for end that goes into the block as it has a little filter on it that is known to block up with time.
I’ll hang fire with my Ecu for now then and see how you go.
It won’t be HP that does the clutch it’ll be torque when you plant your foot from low revs in 2nd or 3rd gear, that’s what stripped mine when I had the vw caddy.
It’s quite addictive to use the torque but if you learn to drive around it a bit you’ll be ok.
