hi all

my old car failed the mot and i plumped for a berlingo as a bloke at work has one that he loves. not for looks but practicality.(im actually getting to like the look of it.)

i picked up a 2003 1.9 hdi desire for £1100 and so far i love it, its huge inside and so many compartments!
love this blue colour too.

there does seem to be a problem with the steering "pulsing" on cornering but i`ll try to post it in the right place for some help.

i don't seem to have the mpg readout either so i¬ll have to get the old pen and paper out for some good old fashioned working out once i get some miles under my belt. my old car was doing 30mpg and am hoping that this will be around 40. time will tell i suppose.

speak soon

Hi, I have a 2004 1.9 hdi desire, should do around 50 mpg with steady driving. check tyres for bulges on the walls, swop tyres from front to back to see if the pulsing goes away, otherwise could be a steering problem - trackrod end etc.

its feels like some kind of hydraulic problem.
daylight tomorrow i will check the fluid levels, if its not that then i think it could be the pump.
it reminds me of an old car i had that used to pulse on full lock but this one does it pretty much through the whole turn.

Hello & Welcome.

Ive replied to your other post - hope it's some help.

My 2.0HDi returns about 44mpg overall. This combines some fast dual carriageway work with a 20 mile commute over very hilly B roads - and I'm not driving with economy in mind !! So you will be pleased when compared to your last car

Check the fluid colour. If it has the slightest tinge of darkness, change it.I disconnect the hose to drain, refill, and repeat after 1 month to get the stuff that I couldn't drain from the system.Basically it dilutes the crap each time you do it.I do it every 2 years as the fluid is cheaper than pumps etc.
