not sure if this is right place but id like to get my audio sorted , I have a 2015 berlingo van which has the touchscreen multi media set up , I don't want to get rid of the head unit as its does all the bluettooth , mpg , warning etc but I really need some better sound quality and volume , its absolutely awful !!
anyone amped up some door speakers ? put a sub in ?
any advice on connecting the amp ... for example does the HU have an rca output or will I have to use the speaker cable ?

Have you tried turning on the equalizer in the HU audio settings?
Mine sounded weak, till i set the Ambience (equalizer) in Audio Settings to "Techno" (Clarion 45 BT oem unit - not large touchscreen) - the bass is deep and superb, treble clear as a bell. It really blew me away how much better it was. I love my tunes and I was going to swap the HU out till I found the equalizer settings. It rocks now. I now have to keep the bass control between 0 and +3 otherwise Bob Marley tries to blur the mirrors with bass lol.
I have the treble at 8 now as well, the difference is night and day. No distortion, plenty of sub bass. No money spent. This setting auto-engages LOUD setting too.
One thing to note, every input selection (Radio, Phone MP3, USB input, Jack Input) all have individual settings, you need to do this for every input selection one after the other, once done, they all stay there.
Select an input, go to audio settings, get to "Ambience", select "Techno", then continue on, to set bass and treble, then let it exit the menu itself, next input, repeat etc - each option flicks round on the Audio menu as you press the select button, the arrow keys on mine are used to set the values, then the audio button again for the next setting. (hope this makes sense)

I haven't and I'm not sure this will help ... it just sounds very fuzzy as soon as I turn up past normal listening volume , like the speakers have blown or will do very soon.
I will try this though as I didn't know there were equaliser settings

Ah you may have blown cones, if so then you'd have to replace the bad speaker(s) etc but I think the head unit, at least the Clarion's have plenty of welly.

Hi there, as far as I am aware the touch screen media player you have doesn't have RCA outputs. I did some research on this when I was considering a buying a XTR berlingo.
I found the whole touchscreen to be awful so looked into what my options would be,
My research led me to determine you have two or three options.
One would be, as you said, to fit an amp which will take speaker level inputs.
The other would be to find a guide from someone who has taken the entire screen out and replaced it with a double DIN using the parts from older berlingos which didn't have the touch screen.
With regards to "MPG warnings etc" this is all controlled through CANBUS and there are adaptors that will relay this information to your choice of headunit. They are not cheap though.
I have, years ago, hooked up an AMP using speaker inputs, the results were somewhere between RCA and factory sound if that makes sense. An improvement but not the real thing.
The factory speakers on citroens aren't up to much to be honest, so perhaps your first option might be to look into swapping them out, especially if you think one may have failed.
As with most things in life, your options will unfortunately be determined by how much money and time you are willing to spend and what gains you desire.
Hello i also had the standard unit and placed high level speaker outputs to RCA adaptors in the dash. (No issues with hissing sounds)
And I placed a 5 channel DLS amp under the passenger seat,
10 inch sub in the rear and component set in the front doors.
Sound was really good and loud.
Crossover and some eq settings on the amp would be preferred.
But everything has a price.
I put a pair of alpine sxv-1735e speakers in the doors, a Vibe powerbox 65.4 amp inside the dash and a Kenwood underseat subwoofer beneath the drivers seat. Major improvement to my RD45 radio. The sound is dynamite.
The amp and the sub both use high level / speaker level inputs. I took a pre amp input for the subwoofer because it has its own amplifier.
Unfortunately I have discovered that the Bluetooth streaming is quite poor and there seems to be a major loss of volume by streaming from my phone to my RD45. Consequently I use USB instead most of the time. I bought a tiny USB stick and I leave it stuck in the dash USB slot. It's 32gb but is still tiny enough to allow the dash USB cover / flap to close almost fully.
These modifications have been a game changer. I found the crappy sound and low volume of the standard radio and speakers to be hugely irritating. Especially at motorway speeds!!
Next I'll enable the rear speakers with diagbox. I have already run the wires so I just need to add the speakers. I'm going to 3d print some mounting pods and rivnut them above and behind the driver and passenger seats in what I would describe as the top front corners of the load bay.
unfortunately I don't have the B&O sound system, so hopefully replacing the doors will help with everything (highs, mids, lows). The guy at the shop refused to do anything to the sub, saying the way it is mounted is too difficult to do anything meanwhile. Wanted me to put an enclosure in for a new sub but I don't want to give up trunk space.

How did you installed that amp inside the dash? Can you make a little tutorial? I was also looking at that amp to powerup my sound!
