[Warning Light] Orange Triangle
#1
Hi all

my wife has a 2013 Berlingo diesal van, when she starts it up all of the warning lights go off. She then pulls away and an orange triangle warning light pops on with a little beep, this seems to limit engine power. If she stops, switches off and waits a minute or so until all the dash goes off and restarts she can drive away with no future recurrence of the warning light.

She literally pulls off the drive and onto a layby opposite to do this restart procedure, so nothing can have really warmed up in the engine.

It happens if she pulls away forwards or backwards.

There is nothing stored in the "computer". I took a quick look under the bonnet and the brake fluid looked overfilled, but I could well be imagining this so will check that properly.

Any thoughts or ideas as I don't have a code reader?

Thanks in advance

You will not be able to tell without a scan with either dealer diagnostics, or Lexia 3 / DIagbox which you won't have I realise. The generic triangle with an exclamation mark inside, if flashing means a minor fault, solid on means major fault but beyond that, no one can say without a scan.

When the triangle warning is lit, without turning off and resetting it, check the event log in the stereo info screen - it should say something. It might disappear when reset by shutting off, so look there when it is active, not after it has gone.

Otherwise, you will have to get it scanned.

Yes it is in part.

However, having given it a good drive over the last couple of days it seems to have cleared itself and hasn’t come back.

With lockdown it hasn’t been used much at all over the last few months so maybe it just needed using.
