[Engine] Fan in front of radiator stopped working
#1
Hello. I have a 2009 Multispace 1.6 diesel. The fan in front of the radiator stopped working, and now my oil temperature goes up to 90 celcius at normal driving. I read the fan should kick in at 83 celcius. Does anybody have experience with the same problem? Is it most likely the fan itself og the thing that controls the fan that is broken? Does anybody know what controls the fan and where its located?

How do I access the fan so I can run 12V DC directly to check the fan itself? Do I have to remove the whole front bumper?

Any help would be greatly appriciated ?

Is it a M59 model or a B9 model as thats the change over year roughly. If its the M59 look down the left side of the rad in the engine bay and there is a small black plastic cover held on by 2 self tapping screws. Take the cover off and there are two relays behind there and at least one controls the fans.
Are we there yet????? Huh
Ex 1.6hdi van now 3 seater 1.4 multispace

Thank you. I'm pretty sure its a B9.

So, I found the problem. As suspected the fan resistor was the sinner.

I removed the resistor, opened it up, and found a bit of melted plastic that led to the contact on the relay not closing. Bought a new part at a Citroen dealership, plugged it in, and startet the car with the air con on max, and the fan kicked in Big Grin

The dealer told me the new part i an improved part. It cost med about 140 euros. Pretty expensive.
