Berlingo Van - “Driver Spec’” - 2020 Out of focus rear camera!
#1
I have a 2020 Berlingo Van with the Driver Trim Level which includes the rear and passenger side camera. Can anyone help me here?.......when selecting reverse, the camera display on the windscreen shows in high definition the rear surrounding area to avoid impact etc. The passenger side blind spot camera on the wing mirror is also high definition and this is displayed on the windscreen camera display.

However, when driving in a normal forward direction, the rear camera then acts just like a rear view mirror, but I’ve noticed the camera screen on the front windscreen which gives a “more long distance rear view” is quite a lower resolution plus slightly out of focus within reason and reading vehicle number plates behind me are mirrored in reverse. I find driving and continually looking at the camera display very irritating due to the out of focus issue.

Can anyone with the same camera installed as myself let me know if they have the same experience please. Great side and reverse view, but while moving forward the rear camera display just seem out of focus. I know it’s not an iPhone camera quality for example, but not sure if my experience is just normal.

I’ll probably go to the dealership to look at another van there and test it to see if it’s the same!

Any suggestions?
Many thanks Wink)

All i use it for is to see whats behind me while driving and how close they are think the orange line is 5mtr maybe 3 but i dont need to read number plates ;-) but i think they are reversed as well like they would be in a normal mirror. my only niggle is the locking i have a 2013 enterprise and when i pull away the back and side door in the back lock leaving the cabin open so if i pull up anywhere and just get out the back is still locked till i unlock it with keybutton. The new driver seems to leave the cab doors unlocked while driving and un lock all back doors when you stop. from a security point of view not very good with all gear in back.

Hey mate....thanks for that! My actual issue is the normal rear view camera seems slightly out of focus, while the reverse mode and side wing mode seems crystal clear! Perhaps try it if you have time and it’ll be cool to see if you experience the same as me.

Re the door locking, I’ve programmed the van to lock the rear doors when I start and move and these remain closed until I push the little side button on the driver’s side. Just means at traffic lights or unsafe areas no one can enter the load area. My cabin doors are programmed to remain unlocked and if I feel so, I can just push the lock button on the dashboard to lock them while driving!

All my rear doors used to auto lock when i puled away (front stayed open) and stayed locked till i opened them with a press of the key. I think i had to press it 1x unlocked front doors 2x unlocked rear doors and i liked that for the security of the gear in the back. also if i just pulled up somwhere and got out of van not locking it back was still all locked was a pain at first but got to like it.

My camera looks ok as a rear mirror and as a reversing camera and the side camera i cant see anything to worry about they do get a bit crap quality at night but that's to be expected

I carry a set of steps in back and with the fitted bulk head in the new driver it makes the van about 3 to 4" shorter in the back compared to the B9 so steps have to go in at an angle bit of a pain but the safe fitted in the side door spot on on the B9 it had to be at bit of angle before to get it to slide straight out of side door

Ahhhhh problem sorted! It seems the recent extremely hot weather in the U.K. has played a big part with my Berlingo camera. As it also says in the handbook, once the outside temperature reaches above excessive levels, this can alter the quality of the image on the small camera/view screen on the windscreen. We tested this by driving in normal summer temperatures from 25-28’C - perfect playback quality. However, beyond this and up to 37’C which was the case in London this week, that’s when the camera becomes slightly distorted in its playback. Maybe something Citroen may address in time, but for now all seems fine.

Mine has been out of focus for ages - had my 48K service yesterday and it seems loads better now.
