Horn not working
#1
Hi All,

The horn isn't working on my MK2 Multispace. Seems to be at the steering wheel end as it got intermittent, and sometimes worked if the wheel was pushed hard. Now it's stopped altogether. I believe the horn contacts behind the airbag could be the culprit.

The question is, how do I get the airbag off to check this without hurting myself :-)

cheers

Hi, I would check to see if there is power going to the horn first. I could be wrong about this, but the horn normally works with the steering wheel earthing the the connection, not supplying the power, my last car that the horn did,not work i hit it with a hammer and sprayed some WD40 up it, worked then Confusedanta:

Hi,

Well, oddly the horn worked with the ignition off and the key out, which after searching the forum, seems to be an earthing problem. Anyway, today I had to pick up someone from Heathrow and got cut-up badly by someone on the way out. Out of habit I gave the horn-push a really good bash (first time in years I've needed it - can't remember the last time) and it worked. It seems ok now - I've tried it a few times now and it's working fine.

thanks for your help, it seems the "hit it with a hammer" idea worked, only I used my substantially sized hands instead :-)

Happy new year!

Mike
