2005 1.4 coolant
#1
Was looking to change my coolant as expansion tank is murky and fan kicks in a lot.  After reading on here it looks likely it could be oil leakage from the oil cooler rather than a slug / pellet which i originally thought.
My question is, where is the cylinder block drain screw?  or is there not one on this model?
I have only located a drain plug on the radiator and the bleed valve on the bulkhead.

Raring to go with fresh Halfords coolant & distilled water!

As far as I know there isnt one on the 1.4 petrol block, there is a bleed screw built into the thermostat housing on the right end of the head. Dont mistake it for one of the mounting bolts though. You will have to remove the air filter housing to see it.
Are we there yet????? Huh

Can't recall the 1.4 having an oil cooler?

If you have oil in the coolant reservoir it will more than likely be from a leaking head gasket, the 1.4 like to rot the head gasket away.

The good news is that it's not a hard or expensive job to do.

Thought i read on here about an oil cooler, assumed maybe like the hdi one but can't see anything. Car seems to run fine apart from fan being on a lot, so not in a hurry to start looking at head gasket, perhaps a job with the next cambelt change.
Undid thermostat bleed screw, removed & checked thermostat operation, undid bulkhead bleed and drained manky coolant via radiator plug.
All ready for flushing, also need something to clean the stains off the expansion tank.
