Gear lever gaiter change
#1
Just changed the gear lever gaiter (that was some wrestling match). The biggest problem for me was getting the silvery plastic bit off.
I watch a vid on it and they said to pull the bit at the back behind the gear stick column towards yourself and then pull up. I did this and it broke half the retaining clip off. I think a straight up pull would have been better, it all clipped back ok.
I had to sit across the driver and passenger seat and pull it straight up, after that the rest was easy.

I did mine recently and the gear knob was the worst part. On the B9 I didn't break the white clip and the knob came off easier than on the old M59, I nearly gave birth getting that one off.

On the B9 I found putting it in 4th gear and sitting as you say, in the centre seat on mine (3 seat front in this van) and pulling straight back.

Pull the gaiter down first, then twist the knob arround a few times. Put the shifter in 4th gear and then pull as hard as you can. Ive done it a few times and so far it always works.

Dont pull straight up, unless you want to whack yourself in the face Smile
