Hi everyone, we're two new owners of a pre owned Berlingo that we would like to investigate the locking fault since right now every ride is rolling a dice if we will be able to lock or unlock. The problem is not the battery in the key, and sometimes it doesn't unlock even with the key in the door. The problem is not only unlocking like I've seen in some previous threads. Does anyone know what we should check?

Could be a broken wire in the door harness that passes through the rubber corrugated sleeve to the body. They often crack internally and act up intermittently. Best thing to do, is starting with the drivers door, pop out and peel back the end of the corrugated sleeve and inspect the wires for fatigue and hairline cracks in the insulation, as inside they will have a stress fracture in the copper conductor if the insulation shows signs of fatigue. Then if you find a bad one (or more than one) you can split it at the break or crack, and splice a piece of wire in with either good crimps or a solder repair and heat-shrink, and then refit the corrugated sleeve. Use a thin implement to push the lip of the sleeve back in at the end, may be awkward but probably where the issue lies.
Access is not too bad if you can open the door fully against the wind catch.
