Hi all, Has anybody had experience of converting a wheelchair access to a camper van type Berlingo?
Any snags lying in wait and how easy if possible is it .
It seems that the wheelchair conversion resell cheaper than an unconverted one. True or false?

I think you're correct about the price being lower, as most people wouldn't touch one unless they need the wheelchair access, or like you, want to make a camper conversion. Good idea! The fuel tank is smaller but that just means more fill ups.

My local burger wagon uses a Berlingo wheelchair adapted vehicle, the ramp is ideal for loading unloading their generator etc.
I used one once to load a big heavy wheeled compressor, blooming marvelous !
I wonder if you could keep the ramp etc an board over in case of future need ???

Thanks for the replies.
It seems the ramp would be handy for loading up a wheeled barbeque etc. so it wouldn't need to be fixed up permanently.
Are the ramps powered electrically or a hand operated jacking system, and is the spare wheel in the normal position ?
The rear door would have to be a up and over one which would act as an awning/roof extension, which I think would be normal for a w/c conversion.
It would not matter if it did not have the rear seats as they would not be needed as there is only two of us. good / bad ?
and more room for seats /table etc. !
It seems they can be had cheaply on the internet, and who knows but may need a w/chair myself soon, age catches up on oneself very quickly. (just trying to talk myself into getting one) thanks Geoff
Any more ideas or opinions please ,

I'd have one - some have a single jump seat in the back that may prove useful, others have a sloped floor that you'd need to take account of when building in 'stuff'. If you want any of the bits they've chucked to make the conversion then try contacting the builders they may still have seats/spare wheels lying around - specifically gmcoachworks.co.uk if you are in the South West

Mine is a M59 1.4 berlingo originally converted by Gowerings mobility it has a single seat behind the passenger seat and a manual ramp. You can get them with an electric winch for pulling the chair in with, mine has restraining straps built in the floor behind the front seats for locking the chair down with and then built into the floor at the start of the ramp is mountings for the rear straps. The ramp locks in the vertical when closed and then the rear door locks on to that. obviously the floor is lower where the ramp is but either side is flat so it wouldnt be to hard to make flat floor and have storage in the wheelchair well. Oh the spare wheel is stood upright in a cover behind the single rear seat. Having a ramp makes it great when you need to move stuff. Hope this helps
Are we there yet?????
