[Engine] Engine replacement 1.4 kfw help needed
#1
Hey guys,

Need to buy a replacement engine for Berlingo van 1.4i bi fuel kfw.

Question is can I buy any 1.4 kfw engine?

Because its bi fuel its the 65hp engine and the engine that just runs on petrol is 75hp.

I assume that the actual engine blocks are identical and its just the ancillaries that change the hp.

So basically I'm looking to buy a 75hp kfw engine block and attach the original ancillaries.

It would also be interesting to know, if anyone can tell me what causes the difference in hp.

Thanks Guys

If anyone was wondering why I'm now wanting to replace the engine after changing the head gasket cam belt kit and water pump and only driving it another couple of hundred miles then..........

I cant think the blocks are any different or heads they are used on thousands of engines and models around that period. I was wondering had they lowered the power by putting a thicker head gasket in.
Are we there yet????? Huh

Just a thought I know the head on my2008 1.4 petrol has a casting number on the right front of Z06 which is common across citroen/peugeot 75bhp engines. There are various other heads with different casting marks and as far as I can tell the heads are all the same. There is a part number in the middle of the head between the exhaust manifold if this helps identify head differences. Could it be when your old engine runs on bi fuel it doesnt produce 75 hp but 65 hp and there is no difference in the engines??

I'm pretty much sure there are only 2 types of engine actually I thing only the heads are different. Just through me being 65hp but after your reply I just realised that it probably does lose the 10hp being on lpg.
