[Filters & Oil] Oil or Hydraulic LEAK

Hi all I’m hoping somebody can help me. 

I have just purchased a 2010 Citroen berlingo on 106k miles, it drives perfect and it’s been really well looked after.

It has an oil or hydraulic leak and I was hoping it was possibly just a couple of rubber seals that have gone. Is their any common leaks I should know about ? 

The van is with my local mechanic at the min but I’m just hoping it’s not something exspensive or I will
Be taking it back where I purchased it from.

To get a straight answer, you really need to get under it with the engine tray off to see where is is coming from. Possibilities are pretty endless, but favourites are the sump mating edges, the oil cooler (aluminum finned thing down on your right as you look at the engine) or the power steering EH pump and reservoir.

If I had to guess, and had one shot, I'd say the sump. They don't use a conventional gasket and people often over tighten them or fail to get them sealed properly on refitting.

Hi Zion thanks for the reply 

Iv had my mechanic look at the van now, he says it’s my crankshaft seal also the sump like you said.
He advised doing the timing belt & water pump which makes sense also as the van is 10 years old now and it hasn’t had a belt change as yet & you have to take the timing belt off anyway to get to the seal.
