" Ok so on the standard 1.6 HDi B9, the accelerator pedal is purely electronic (fbw), having 2 potentiometers inside that both go to the injection ECU. All B9s can in theory have cruise added, but on certain early years the cluster doesn't support it, so it will freak out when cruise is turned on. Normally on the ones that support it, they will display that cruise is engaged and the speed setpoint. But - it can be enabled on mostly all B9 HDi's using DiagBox."
I'm having problems with adding cruise control , went through all the directions for adding cruise control but still not working. Shows as present and installed in diagbox. It shows the speed dial and dashes for the speed set. I get "cruise control impossible " on the centre info screen when stalk button pressed. over 40mph 4/5 gear.
Done the customer delivery section setup and the checked the BSI setup , shows its there and installed
I think its something deeper then when reading ZIONS' post about early models not being supported I wondered if it applies to my B9 2010 reg, XTR . It has the clutch switch fitted and working according to diagbox , b/switch working and an aftermarket stalk (6242z8) ( ?).
A post on the net said it needed a different throttle pedal ?, why when all the other parts needed are factory fitted for cruise apart from the stalk. Does it have the wrong cluster and if so what one would I need ?

u only have to change throttle pedal....if u want the speed limiter to work...when i did the con-fig it in diagbox....i went thru repair,con-fig.manual con-fig..driving assistance..etc..
i think there are two parts in diagbox to install cruise control...,bsi the other...engine/injectors
ps...remove cruise in diagbox and do fresh install of cruise...
you would have done basics like brake switch/clutch switch. and the latest lexia3 firmware above ver.7.57
do as zion says don't buy chinese....i had same problem

same procedure as berlingo/tepee

Spot on Gaz.
Brodfather, the cruise needs to be enabled in two places in DiagBox, and the pedal only needs to be the LVVD model if you have the speed limiter stalk. Btw I know brand new non-OEM stalks from the internet do not work at all. They're made in China and may just be audio stalk clones. The CANBUS messages they generate are wrong so I'd only use a second hand original one. No one has been able to get a Chinese one working. There was a write-up on here somewhere that describes the DiagBox coding very well. I think it needs coded in the BSI and in the engine ECU since one monitors the acc pedal and the other the clutch and brake pedals.
I think your cluster could be ok at 2010, there's a little icon of a Speedo with a line next to it that lights up in cruise mode. For the non compliant clusters, cruise still works but the instruments drop dead when cruise is enabled, only coming back to life when cruise is turned off.

Thanks Zion , Gazahull,
The icon does appear when switched on , everything normal so I'll assume the cluster is OK.
The lexia /diagbox version is 7.60 above this version it goes strange and gets stuck on asking to connect a VCI .
Its a internet stalk from the Netherlands but a Chinese address as seller so its probably a Chinese version. So I'll try to get a used one from here. Not really bothered about the speed limiter.
So will try a fresh install after uninstalling
Thanks will let you know any other developements

I think that's the problem mate. Get a used one on eBay from the UK and check the seller business address. If it's China or Hong Kong, walk away. Plenty of used ones especially with the limiter, it just doesn't work on the speed limit setting without a pedal with LVVD on it, which stands for Limite Vitesse Voluntaire Droite which is right hand drive speed limiter. Cruise will still work with this stalk, and the wrong pedal, just not the speed limiter which allows you to set a limit speed the car won't exceed, even when cruise is not engaged.

Zion,
As gazahull advised I noticed when I was de installing the cruise control , in the ECU setting it was shown as " Cruise Control RVV" and in the BSI setting it was " 6242z8 " . One is cruise control and the other is cruise control with limiter , isn't it ? I thought they may/should have been the same ?. I think I'll re-install it and check if the difference shows up again
Anyway I contacted the Netherland/Chinese seller and I was offered 10 euro to pay an engineer to diagnose and report the problems. That could be their way of offering me 10 euro refund if I keep it.
Looking closely at the stalk there is no numbers or any sign of its origins , absolutely devoid of any ID or country of origin. The number on the box is 6242Z8 but nothing else . Cant be much good if they don't want it traced to anyone.
Ordered a used one off eBay so I'll try that.

Yep, sounds like you have a dud stalk. I've seen others try and try to get one of these aftermarket ones working with no success.
I'd delete it from both entries and then fit a used original and it should be fine.
10 euro wouldn't get you far with an engineer...that says it all. Maybe in China their time costs 10 euros...lol

come to think of it when i had my old 2010 xtr hdi.......it was showing as fitted but the cruise did not work....i changed the brake light switch......then it was ok.....i think the clutch switch activates first then a split second later the brake light switch....there's a way you can test it with diagbox....thru engine/man not thru bsi.......

something like this ..but thru lexia/diagbox

I couldn't find the clutch switch testing part in diagbox so I levered out the switch just to test it with a multimetre , broke the casing , well it is awkward to get at. Got another from ebay and fitted that then found the section in diagbox for testing. It shows as working , I don't know about the slight difference in timing, never noticed.
I'll try a different brake switch as mine is a 2010 xtr hdi , even though its working OK. , maybe a bad lot of slow brake switches

what i can gather..the brake switch can be adjusted [its on a ratchet so can be pushed in or out]..so it can be follow just after the clutch switch..[the clutch switch cannot be adjusted]....but can only be tested when in diagbox you have to either press brake or clutch pedal slowly to confirm which is coming on first.....the brake switch must follow the clutch switch for the cruise to work.........hope it makes sense
