B9 2012 rd4 upgrade to rd45
#1
Hey everyone,
I've bought an Rd45 on fleabay it arrived and everything worked as the nice chap opened all the options. However he said he couldn't open the fader option. I was sent screen shots of what he'd done but I did ask why the fader was deactive but he'd already sent it. Anyways I'm returning it as the rear speakers had no sound. He does have a few rd45s so he's going to try and open the option or find one of his other rd45s that will. Question is looking at the pin out I found on line it had the rear speaker pins. However the one zion has sent looks different. I'm going to upload all and leave it for you guys to comment on.

Hi Kelly, I take it the left one is your original as it's missing the aux socket pins? Sorry for the wrong diagram, it's for the pre-fakra plugs.

Both have the rear speaker pins though.

Ok it seems you can enable the fader in DiagBox. It should be an option in the configuration page for the stereo once it's connected to your car and has an MFD that supports the increased functionality of the RD45 (Bluetooth page etc)

Both the new MFD and the stereo will need configured to your car (if not already) so the new vin, the new MFD display, the functions the new stereo has (aux, nomad hands free etc) and the mic will have to be spliced to pins 3 & 9 on socket B as per the pinout diagram you posted. There are a few threads on the frenchcarforum if you Google "Berlingo enable rear speakers"

Looks like you need to get DiagBox and have a go at it or get one configured before posting out to you. Sorry I couldn't be more help before.

So are u saying that the seller has added the vin number but if it was in his van that he did it... That's the reason that he couldn't activate the fader? I bought the type c screen a nd popped it in before I even changed the radio all was fine. Then I added the newly vin coded rd45 and everything worked as it should except the rear speaker so now I'm thinking if he had to insert my radio in his van so he could code it that would be why he couldn't change the fader. I'll see if I can pull the pics he sent but I won't be able to send the first one as it has my vin in it.

Also could you send me a link for the diagbox u reccommend from ebay too... As if I can solve this with the radio I've bought Im happy to do it the pins are there for it I believe as my old radio is the one on the right from the picture above and the one with cd changer port is the one on the left. I haven't told my car it's got the type c screen but everything works. Only vehicle parameters is the only thing I can't get into which I assume is drl I assume. I haven't even checked to see if they work. And I don't have the vin number from the vehicle it came from but I believe it is from a 2014 which I assume would have had them.

That's what I think. The thread I saw on FCF was a guy trying to code an RD45 to a C2, and he couldn't as DiagBox knew it shouldn't have an RD45 so wouldn't communicate. He was advised to fit it to a vehicle that came with an RD45 and program the options he wanted to enable then move it back to the C2. I wondered if it couldn't be enabled as it knew it was in a van or didn't detect rear speakers so couldn't enable the fader. Just flying a kite here of course, never tried it.

The DiagBox kit I bought was this one but all sellers seem to be Hong Kong now:

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/392915686245

Only install DiagBox, not Lexia or PP2000 if it comes with all 3 and stop at version v7.58 as it has all the configuration options available. Later versions are hard to find the config stuff in, it's buried, I tried going to 7.83 and hated it so much I rolled back to 7.58.

Maybe worth asking the guy if he had rear speakers connected when he tried to code it, or was it done in a van etc.

I've asked the seller to confirm if he did it in a van before I return it tomorrow. My brother had delphi or something and that couldn't do it. So if I bought the one u said he could it on his laptop and let him do it as I'm not good at all that in depth computer stuff. I just keep sitting on the fence. Can't decide whether i should send it back or just put it back in and sort that bit myself. There shouldn't be a reason I couldn't enable it is there??

I don't see why you couldn't enable it yourself once it's in your car but there's no guarantee. Maybe can only be enabled if rear speakers are actually connected.

DiagBox has to be installed on a win7 laptop and it does kinda take over. Also you can't have the internet enabled while installing or using it.

Your car is new enough to have come with the RD45 as an option, the C2 wasn't so I guess it wasn't in the options file for it to be enabled.
