USB Charging port
#1
Afternoon all
Does anyone know if it's possible to add a USB socket to the vertical part of the darker plastic trim panel rear the rear view mirror, taking its power from the constant live supply to the interior light. This is so I can charge a phone overnight. As it's only 5V and 2.1 amp, is that low enough so the existing wires can take the load?
Thanks
Jim

You'd have to know the fuse rating for that lighting circuit, and the cross sectional area of the wires Jim. Likely not. Interior lights are 5w so they only need 5w/12v in amps so 0.4A - even to run all 3 including the map light is only 1.5A.

Also, none of the Berlingo systems remain live overnight, the BSI will shut down to eco mode after 20 mins or so, turning every system off. You can't stop that I'm afraid...so no overnight charging of anything no matter where you plug it in on a Berlingo. Even the interior lights are not constantly live past that time.

The best you can do is run a fused feed, from the battery into the van to a cig lighter socket. Mind the usb is 5V but the van power is 12v. So you need a 12v to 5v converter.
