Anyone know how it's held in.
I have been using it as a socket that i plug an extension lead into giving me three sockets and four USB sockets, problem is it's very intermittent the plug that goes into it had to be at a just so angle.

I had a similar problem on my (previous) 2010 B9 Multispace, the dealer replaced it for me as an addition to a routine service and it didn't cost much.
The explanation that the dealer gave me (not sure I'm 100% convinced?) was that there is a dimensional difference between the socket that is described as a "power outlet" compared to the one I had which they called a "cigarette lighter socket"
My socket worked perfectly as a power outlet from then on
Found this with a quick Google search ....
......... "Accordingly, the specifications for these power sockets that are contained in ANSI/SAE J563 include two variants: one that works with cigarette lighters and one that doesn’t. If you've ever tried putting a cigarette lighter into a cigarette lighter socket only for it to fall right back out, that's why."

I think it's the fact that cigar sockets have 2 bi-mettallic springs to lock the lighter in place till it gets hot enough to pop up. They get in the way of power plugs and if they have been used to light cigarettes, the main positive pin at the bottom is usually skanky with carbon anyway.
Power sockets have neither the bi-metallic latching springs on the sides of the positive pin, nor the carbonised deposits.
