Hi All, I'm new to the Berlingo forum so please be lenient with me. Still trying to sort out DNS server problems on my computer so I can see everything on the site. Keep getting error messages whenever I click blue links saying the forums IP address isn't available/recognised so any help with this gratefully received.
I have plenty of issues with my Berlingo which I'd like some help with.

Welcome to the forum?
Do you have any specific links which are not working on here? They may be old links.

Hi Mike, Thanks for the reply, I guess you might be right as I've just clicked on a couple more and they've worked. I was mainly looking for wiring diagrams and workshop manuals for my car to try and solve an ABS light not on issue. I'll post a new thread for checking maxi fuses as I think it may be linked to them.
Cheers mate, thank you.

I find that sometimes when a message or thread is quoted in another one, the url given doesn't work. My fix is to compare it with the url of the page I'm actually visiting (this one for instance is https://www.berlingoforum.com/thread-19938.html) - then I copy just the thread number from the quoted url and paste it over the thread number in my browser's url address (19938 in this case) and hit the return key. That seems to work okay.
Also, it seems that some of the useful docs etc. were posted so long ago that if they are hosted on other websites they may no longer exist. This also applies where people include photos in posts which are hosted elsewhere (or were once).

The forum changed a while ago from .co.uk to .com so a lot of the old links just need .com replacing .co.uk and they work just fine. Someone put me onto that as being the solution. (JJ9?)

If there's not too many links I can edit them.

It's all of the posts older than when the forum became .com Mike, previous threads all have .co.uk in the URL but people can either change .co.uk to .com manually or as Rasputin says, put the thread number in place of the current one which has the same effect, since the current thread begins with .com
Maybe there is a script you can run on the site storage that will alter the links to .com via PHP etc? That would be great.
The main issue I can see with the old links is the message it presents is something like "you are not authorised to view this page, it may have moved or may no longer exist" so people give up especially new visitors.

It may take way too long to find out how many such links there are, and if a script could be sorted it would help, but then again the results would have to be checked, possibly manually, taking us back to square one.
What I get is 'we're having trouble finding that site... on this server' which shows up in Firefox's history as 403 Forbidden. Here's one example:
http://www.berlingoforum.co.uk/showthread.php?tid=804
Maybe either a post with simple DIY instructions, or possibly with a simple one-off script which browsers could run on the link they're interested in, might be good enough?

Or a server-side script that forwards all requests to http://www.berlingoforum.co.uk to http://www.berlingoforum.com while retaining the part after .co.uk, it would be pretty easy for a script programmer to do in ASP, Perl or PHP depending on which language the site coding is written in. This would mean a single line of script would redirect all requests to the correct URL and no checking would be needed. It would just work.

Hi Mike,
The link I was having problems with was a [Sticky] New Members read this important info and then it goes on to say at Three (which is coloured green) post a thread in the appropriate forum here.
This is the blue link that was giving me all my problems, tried it again this morning and I get the same error Hmm this sites IP address cannot be found.
