I have got a 2014 Berlingo Multispace but find I have to fully extend my arm to reach the gear stick. I can't move my seat closer to the steering wheel as otherwise I'm too near. Does anyone else find they have to over-extend a bit to change gear, and are there any possible solutions for this? Thanks!

On the front left side of your seat, is a plastic loop handle. Pull it up and let go repeatedly till your height is correct to reach the gear stick. It lifts you up and tilts you forward slightly. You're probably too low just now, so you're reaching up as well as out. I have mine lifted and it's perfect. I have short arms and am 5' 9" (stocky built lol) so I find it needs to be raised a bit for the right position.
If the steering wheel is then too close, reach under and unlock the column adjuster and push the steering wheel away till it's correct, then lock it again.
If you can see a space between the rigid plastic cowling and the instrument housing, you have room to reduce the wheel position away from you at that seat position. The wheel adjusts in, out, up and down.

Thanks, I've been pulling the plastic loop handle up but the seat doesn't seem to be moving either up or down, however hard I pull! I am presuming it's already at its highest. It my legs that can't get any closer to the front of the car, otherwise my knees are still too bent when I have the clutch pushed right now. The steering wheel is fine.
I appreciate your reply.

To make it go down, you press down on the lever. Worth checking it can go down, that way you know it's at full height.
If you just put the seat forward enough till you can comfortably reach the gear stick, then use the steering wheel adjuster to push the wheel right back?

You need to take your weight off the seat while you're pulling the handle to allow it to move, it's quite a low tech set up. Might still be at its highest point but worth a try?

I think I've got it good enough now. I can't get the seat to go any higher, but it's only 1st gear that is a little fully-stretched, so I can live with that. I am still getting the hang of maneuvering such a large vehicle, after my very tiny Corsa... It feels massive!!!! Thanks for all the help.

It is a big van compared to the previous model and must be a culture shock after a Corsa. You get used to it pretty quickly.

Yes, a massive culture shock! I know I'll get used to it with a lot of practice. My Corsa is 19 years old so the features on the Berlingo feel like absolute luxury in comparison!

Yeah they are a really good vehicle to live with. The steering is quick, brakes are superb, lots of great features on my van like Bluetooth, parking radar, lane change indicators, aux in, usb music, hands free voice control (when your phone is connected, you press the button on the end of the indicator stalk and it listens for phone voice commands)
Brilliant, I love it.

Sounds like a lot has changed since I got mine. They're great vehicles though.
