Radio Reboot Issues Back Again
#1
Hi,

I have a 65 plate Berlingo Van.

I have had the vehicle from new.

Within the first few months after purchase the Radio started rebooting itself every few mins and had to back to the dealership.

They cured the issue by upgrading the firmware.

But unfortunately after nearly 5 years the exact issues is back.

This seemed to coincide with its last service and mot which was a couple of weeks back but it could be just a coincidence.

The rebooting occurs no mater what I am listening to, DAB, FM, USB, Bluetooth etc.

I have tried doing a factory reset, running without the USB stick attached  and also removing all paired phones but still the issue occurs.

Is it possible that the service/mot rolled back the firmware to the old one ?

My current version is

SMEG6.1.D.R20
CD: 30490
Dated: 17/12/15

Any thoughts would be much appreciated.

Thanks for your time.

Mine is a 65 plate and is also doing the exact same thing?  And is over it's service?  Do you think it needs to go back to dealership for reboot or re install software?

Same issue I've been having, 16 plate. Did a BSI reboot and it went away for a while but is back. How do you find the firmware number?

Been having this issue for last few weeks, the consol turns its self off and back on again every 4/5 minutes. Seems to  come and go with the weather, warm and sunny all OK, damp cold days  its back ..  I'm thinking maybe poor connections somewhere. Huh

Just found this on another Forum

Hi, I have a very frustrating infotainment system that randomly restarts whilst driving. It turns off, restarts with the citroen start up logo. The time has been reset to 00:00. Sometimes it will go half an hour but generally every 5 mins

Seen a lot of complaints on this and many were solved with a software update . A phone call to a dealership to check might be worthwhile . Also heard of a low battery condition affecting it .

After finding a similar post about Peugeots I have found the following and tested with my Berlingo today.

1. Tune your DAB radio to Absolute Radio
2. You can then listen to Bluetooth, USB, FM or AM without any reboots but you must keep the DAB (allbeit in the background tuned to Absolute Radio).
3. I had a long journey without a single issue.
4. If you go back to DAB and tune it to a BBC Radio station i.e. 5 Live the reboot comes back after 3 or 4 mins.
5. I dont know what it is and its not really a fix but it certainly works for my Berlingo

It seems to have something to do with DAB radio chanels on the 12B frequncy (which seems to be used by BBC).

This may seem a bit far fetched but it certainly works for my Berlingo.

I would be interested to see if this procedure has the same results for anyone else.

This is uncanny - I have just come to exactly the same conclusion with the issue that I'm having with my Grand Picasso: if DAB is tuned to anything on 12B, then it keeps crashing, regardless of whether it's outputting DAB, AM, FM, Bluetooth. I'm glad that I've found the same workaround as you but frustrated that I lose access to some stations I really want (e.g. 5Live Sports Extra). I've tried disabling some of the options, such as RDS, etc., but this doesn't seem to help. Any other ideas?

Been using this fix/bodge for the last 3 days and no rebooting at all.

Thinking maybe firmware update may be the answer

Nice find nicenswift, thanks

Just out of interest I was wondering if its a regional issue.

I am predominantly driving around West Yorkshire and mostly Bradford & Leeds

The only time I had a problem was on the Hampshire/West Sussex boarder area - no issues at all up in Surrey. I wonder if it is related to the changing over between certain transmitters. Is so then I very much doubt a firmware update will cure it. Incidentally, my issue coincided within a few days of the service reminder display dropping to zero.
