Door Sill Protectors

I'm looking for some sill protectors for the front doors. 
Any recommendations?

Could some for the boot be cut/shaped to length?

Or perhaps a more sensible idea... ask a bodyshop to cut/shape  some ally checkerplate for you? The thinnest I could find on eBay is 1.5mm:

They do 4" square samples so you could check the thicknesses for suitability.

I'm guessing you've already looked at the 'carbon fibre' self-adhesive rubber sill protectors.
