Transporting my new kayak on the roof help?
#1
Bug
I have an inflatable kayak that fits nicely inside (see previous post) but my new rigid needs to be carried on the roof (it fits inside also but caused a major problem bringing it home on Sunday Sad  )

Anybody got any good ideas or have previously done this? Expensive roof rack purchase is out of the question but all other suggestions will be greatly received  Big Grin

Can't see any other way than a roof bars, yes they are pricey (having just bought them myself) but they are good.

Perhaps someone can tell you some cheaper ones that will fit, there is not much weight to a kayak after all.

Just a thought as you had it inside for the trip home, what if you took one of the rear seats out and laid the front seat right back would that be long enough?

The roofbars on the Berlingo M59 should fit sideways as well as forwards.

Wow, that could be the answer. Any ideas how to do this?
update; just seen in the manual, thanks so much. If i'd have known this on Sunday I wouldn't have a cracked windscreen now Sad

Only modutops have that feature?

I once set the bars that way on my last B. They were EXTREMELY noisy at motorway speeds.

Now I know why my current non-Desire B hasn't got any roof bars.

I remember going to a course in Leeds in a mini bus but, it had a huge square roof rack. The noise was deafening, some of the other were in for stopping unbolting it and chucking it in the bushes.
I mean it *kin nosey as hell!!!
Just a story.

In one of his posts in another thread he implies as much, sending in a photo of his trunk with two bikes and a kayak in it.

I can only get two boots and a cake in mine, and one of them doesn't survive very well for long.
